Shirley Maxey directs the Master of Accounting and Business Taxation programs. She has over 25 years of experience as a communication consultant and trainer, and served for seven years as Chair and Director of the Center for Management Communication. Before joining USC, Professor Maxey worked for the California Legislature's Auditor General and with Coopers & Lybrand. Professor Maxey is the recipient of the Instructor Excellence Award, the Faculty Excellence Award, Marshall's Master Teacher Award, and the Dean's Award for Community. She is a member of the Management Communication Association, the Association for Business Communication, and the American Accounting Association.
