Joseph R. Hanley is Senior Vice President – Technology, Services, and Strategy for Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. He reports to the President and CEO of TDS and works directly with the TDS business units on the development, implementation, and corporate review of their technology and business strategies. He is also responsible for several corporate functions including enterprise strategic planning, corporate innovation, technology vendor and industry relations, and technology and public policy support of corporate strategy.

Mr. Hanley joined TDS in 1988 and has held positions in engineering, product management, product development, customer operations, technology assessment, and strategy.

Hanley serves on the board of directors and executive committee of ATIS, the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions, and is currently its treasurer. He is also on the advisory board of the Institute for Communication Technology Management at the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business. He received an MBA from Arizona State University and a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He resides in the Chicago area with his wife and two daughters.
