Program

Over the course of four intense days, you will examine your personal leadership style as perceived by others around you. Through a combination of experiential activities, presentations, and case studies, you will explore the essence of effective leadership and gain new insights into your capabilities as a leader. This course will introduce you to communication skills and EQ, power and influence, decision making and negotiations as well as ethics in leadership.

This course will start with a 360-degree assessment, supplying feedback from a wide range of coworkers to help you plan your professional development. Gain an understanding of how you are perceived as a leader and leave with an action plan for success. Optional One-on-One Coaching Available*

Make the most of your leadership development program by signing up for our post-course one-on-one executive coaching program. We will help you increase lasting results by focusing on the application of key models and concepts soon after the learning event.

During this coaching, you will develop a personalized six-month "Leadership Action Plan" with three phases:

  • Preparation – review and interpretation of a 360 assessment that was included in the Leadership course and a Behavior Styles assessment an additional assessment as part of the coaching program
  • Planning – drafting an individual developmental action plan using data from the assessments, and incorporating relevant course content
  • Execution – implementing the actions of the plan in real-play situations, reporting outcomes, and adjusting the plan as necessary. The coaching sessions will occur each week post course.

Coaching Costs: $3,900
8 x 45 minute sessions during a 90-day period, and 1 Behavior Styles Assessment

Teaching Method

Using case studies, current business articles, in-class exercises, interaction and small group projects, our faculty will lead you to focus on the key knowledge and skills you need to understand and apply concepts to your organization's activities.

Faculty

Nate Fast, Ph.D., USC Marshall Assistant Professor of Management and Organization, was recently selected by Poets & Quants as one of “The World’s 40 Best B-School Profs Under the Age of 40".  Fast studies the determinants and consequences of power and status in groups and organizations. His findings have been published in top-tier academic journals including Psychological Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and the Academy of Management Journal. Popular accounts of his work have appeared in media outlets such as The Economist, NPR, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and New York Times.

Scott Wiltermuth, Ph.D., USC Marshall Associate Professor of Management and Organization, is a frequently published researcher. Wiltermuth researches how socio-environmental factors affect people’s reactions to unethical behavior and their likelihood of behaving unethically themselves. He has published papers in Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Psychological Science, Academy of Management Journal, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and numerous other academic journals. His work has been reported in many media outlets, including: The Economist, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The Washington Post.

Cheryl Wakslak, Ph.D., USC Marshall Assistant Professor of Management and Organization, is also a frequently published researcher. Wakslak studies managerial and organizational decision-making, focusing on how proximity changes the way individuals represent information, thereby influencing judgment and behavior. Her findings have been published in numerous scholarly outlets, including the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and Psychological Science.

Fee

$3,950 per person includes breakfast, break food, lunch, parking and all learning materials. There is a 10% discount for three or more registrants from the same company.

CEU Credits

You will earn 3.2 CEU credits taking this IN PERSON course. A continuing education unit (CEU) is a measure used in continuing education programs, particularly those required in a licensed profession for the professional to maintain the license. A CEU unit of credit equals to 10 hours of participation in the accredited program designed for professionals with certificates or licenses to practice various professions.
